Story of a Storm

Story of a Storm : A Book about Hurricane Katrina by Reona Visser and Children of the Mississippi Gulf Coast arrives at publisher Quail Ridge Press on Tuesday, April 25 for immediate release.
Through my husband Greg Griffith's relief work on the Mississippi Gulf Coast following Katrina, I came to know author and Coast Episcopal School 5th grade teacher Reona Visser. I am blessed by her friendship and to have steered the development of Story of a Storm.
In the days during and immediately after Katrina, Mrs. Visser conceived of a collage art story book to tell the tale of the hurricane from children's perspective. The result: Gorgeous, moving works of art with a riveting, inspirational story. Thirty children worked on the book with Mrs. Visser in her home while their parents dug through mud looking for belongings.
Eighty-five per cent of students? and faculty families were left homeless. All proceeds benefit the Hurricane Relief Fund of Coast Episcopal School of Long Beach, Mississippi.
In addition to the creative direction of the book, Greg and I developed storyofastorm.com as an informational and marketing tool to further the cause and promote book sales. Please visit the site to support the cause and for credits on the other fine folks who donated their efforts to produce the book.
Recently, Robin Roberts of Good Morning America visited her home town Pass Christian, Mississippi and was presented a copy of the book signed by the children who participated.

Also, the American Library Association has recommended Story of a Storm with a good review in their BookList Online.
